The RTD category has outpaced the spirits volume and wine! In 2021, the global ready to drink cocktails market size was valued at 782.8 million US dollars. Since the only way to really buy alcohol was from the liquor store, the options were basically beer, wine or spirits. But then came the emergence of canned cocktails, where people could buy pre-made cocktails instead of having to buy the spirits and all of the ingredients in order to attempt to make a cocktail. The ease and simplicity of these drinks were what sparked its popularity. Consumers didn’t have to put in any work except swiping their credit card and cracking open the can. People have gotten so used to how easy cocktails in a can are, that even though bars are open again, the canned cocktail industry is still thriving. Now consumers don’t have to go to bars in order to get a cocktail, they can stay at home and grab one from the fridge. They also have the added bonus of the accessibility of bringing a cocktail with them wherever they go.
